Federal Releases Linked to Moore
No BOP institution was verified within Moore County. A federal defendant may never appear in Moore County jail data, or a federal agency may use a local or regional detention site for only part of the case. A county booking record can show a transfer, but that event does not prove the person later left federal custody.
For a sentenced federal prisoner, the Bureau of Prisons becomes the key public custodian. Its national record is separate from TDOC FOIL and from Moore County Sheriff records. If a local release event names the U.S. Marshals Service, BOP, or another receiving agency, carry that agency and date forward as a new custody episode.
| Source | Correct use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Moore County release event | Shows when local custody ended and a destination if recorded | Does not prove later federal release |
| Federal court docket | Shows bond, remand, judgment, or sentence orders | Not the physical exit record |
| BOP locator | Shows BOP identity, location, and release date | Does not cover ICE, state, or county custody |
| USMS or detention facility | Can address a pretrial custody question | No general historical public locator |
Search Moore Federal Release Records
The official BOP Inmate Locator accepts a register number or a name with demographic filters. The register number is the strongest key. When only a name is known, compare each result carefully and use age, race, sex, and other displayed data to avoid attaching the wrong release date to a similar name.
- Choose the number search when a BOP register number is available.
- Otherwise enter the legal name and use only known filters.
- Compare the full result before selecting a person.
- Record the register number, exact location text, and release date.
- Check the federal docket or custodian if the result does not answer the custody question.
The official federal locator page shown below is the correct public starting point for a sentenced federal record.

The national form should not be mistaken for a Moore County release feed. It follows federal prison records across the country.
Read Moore Federal Release Results
BOP explains that results can show the person’s name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. A past release date with no institution, or “RELEASED” as the location, confirms that BOP custody ended. It does not establish that every form of legal control ended at the same time.
A future date is projected. “UNKNOWN” can mean that the sentence term has not yet been determined. A person may also move to supervised release, face a state hold, or enter immigration detention after leaving BOP. Preserve the locator wording instead of turning it into a broader claim.
- Released
- The BOP record indicates that Bureau custody ended.
- Projected release date
- A future federal date that may change before the actual event.
- Supervised release
- A federal court-ordered community period that can follow prison.
- Detainer
- A request or basis for another authority to take custody.
“Released” in a BOP result means released from BOP custody. It does not rule out another agency’s hold or supervision.
Moore Federal Pretrial Release Records
The U.S. Marshals Service handles federal pretrial prisoners from court remand through acquittal, release, or delivery to BOP after conviction. The agency does not offer a general person-level historical locator comparable to FOIL or the BOP search. Its public disclosure guidance also limits prisoner histories, photographs, and arrival or departure times.
For a federal defendant who has not entered BOP custody, start with the federal court docket. A bond or release order explains the court’s legal act. Then confirm the physical movement with the detention facility or the responsible USMS district. An order alone does not show that processing ended or that another hold was absent.
A record-specific USMS FOIA request may seek an existing agency record subject to exemptions. The request should identify the person, case, approximate date, and particular document sought. It should not ask staff to create a custom custody history.
Moore Federal Release Dates
The BOP locator generally covers federal inmates incarcerated from 1982 and people released after 1982. Older research may route to the National Archives. A no-result response can reflect time coverage, spelling, identity, a pretrial-only episode, or custody held by another agency. It is not proof that the person was never in federal detention.
A release date should be recorded with the system that supplied it. “Released from BOP custody” is precise. “Released from Moore County Jail to the U.S. Marshals Service” describes a different event. Keeping those labels prevents a federal transfer from being reported as a return to the community.
| Record to preserve | Reason |
|---|---|
| BOP register number | Maintains a stable federal identity key |
| Location text | Shows whether BOP lists a facility or released status |
| Date label and value | Separates a past event from a future estimate |
| Federal docket order | Explains the legal basis for detention or release |
| Other-agency record | Checks any state, county, or immigration handoff |
Moore County Federal Release Paths
A Moore County arrest belongs first to the Moore County Sheriff record. A Tennessee felony prison sentence belongs to TDOC and FOIL. A federal sentence belongs to BOP. An immigration detention event belongs to ICE. The systems do not merge their release histories into one public record.
If the Moore County Jail reports bond, request the local release event and check the Moore County court case. If it reports transfer to TDOC, follow the state identity. If it reports a federal pickup, use the federal docket, USMS route, and BOP when the person enters sentenced custody. The Moore County released-inmate search and records path covers the county side of that handoff.
Note: A roster disappearance is only an absence from that display; the receiving custodian and release reason determine what actually happened.
Moore Federal Supervision After Release
Federal supervised release can continue after the BOP date. It is imposed and administered through the federal court and probation system, not through the Tennessee Board of Parole or TDOC District 50. A BOP result does not describe all supervision terms, and a Moore County court clerk does not hold the federal judgment.
Use the federal docket for the judgment and later court orders. Contact the responsible federal office for an authorized status question. Do not treat an old locator result as a real-time account of a person’s compliance, residence, or every pending legal matter.
Moore Federal Release System
The Federal Bureau of Prisons manages sentenced federal prisoners. It is not a Moore County facility and does not publish a county-specific recent-release list. Its locator is valuable because former federal prisoners can remain searchable with a release date, but its statement is limited to BOP custody.
The most reliable Moore-linked chronology pairs each agency’s own record: the local booking and transfer event, the federal court order, the BOP identity and release field, and any later ICE or state record. Dates from different systems should remain separate, even when they fall on the same day.
Moore Federal Release Worksheet
Begin the federal timeline with the source of the Moore County connection. If the person was booked locally, retain the county booking number, local release date and time, release reason, and receiving agency. If the connection is only residence or family, do not imply that Moore County held the person. Move next to the federal case number and the exact docket order that placed, continued, or ended detention.
For a sentenced prisoner, save the BOP register number, name as displayed, age and other identity fields, location text, release-date label, value, and access date. A past date next to “RELEASED” supports the narrow statement that BOP custody ended. A future value remains projected. “UNKNOWN” should remain unknown until BOP or the court supplies more detail. Do not replace any of those labels with a guessed release reason.
Pretrial federal cases require different proof. A court bond order establishes legal authority, while the holding facility or USMS record establishes the physical movement. If a later judgment commits the person to BOP, the BOP locator becomes relevant from that stage forward. If the federal docket instead ends but an ICE, Tennessee, or another county hold continues, follow that named authority. The result is a custody-by-custody worksheet rather than a single status claim.
Keep the lookup date because locator data can change. If the BOP entry and docket seem inconsistent, request the existing document that explains the difference. For older persons outside the locator’s general coverage, use the National Archives route identified by BOP instead of concluding that no federal record exists.
