Find Moore County Released Inmates

Moore County released inmates can leave local custody through bond, a court order, time served, sentence completion, or a transfer to another agency. A search for Moore County released inmates must therefore identify both the event and the agency that held the person next. Local booking and release records confirm a jail event, while state correction records address a Tennessee felony sentence. Court files explain the legal basis. Federal systems cover separate custody. The same search for Moore County released inmates should distinguish a true return to the community from parole, probation, or a move to another jail or prison.

Moore County Released Inmate Records

A release from Moore County Jail is a recorded end to one period of physical custody. It does not always mean freedom from every form of custody or legal control. Someone may walk out after posting bond, finish a short sentence, or leave after a judge orders release. Another person may be transported to a Tennessee Department of Correction institution, another county jail, federal authorities, an authorized treatment placement, or immigration custody. The release reason and destination matter as much as the date.

A current roster, when one exists, answers who is confined now. Moore County has no verified public online roster archive or recent-release feed. A person missing from a current display might have returned to the community, but the same absence could follow a transfer or another event. The sound local proof is the booking-linked release event. Pair it with the court file when the legal basis must also be known.

Bond
Release from pretrial detention under court-set terms. The charge is not dismissed merely because bond was posted.
Time served
The custodial time credited by that authority has ended.
Parole
Conditional release from confinement while the sentence continues under supervision.
Probation
Court-ordered supervision that may follow jail time or replace more confinement.
Discharge
An agency-recorded end to the custody or supervision relationship described by that record.

Moore County Inmate Release Types

The wording on the source record should be kept intact. Similar-looking results can carry very different meanings. A court dismissal may explain why a person should be released, yet another charge or hold can still prevent the actual walk-out. A jail transfer closes local physical custody while custody continues elsewhere. A deceased disposition must never be described as a release into the community.

Recorded eventMeaningNext place to verify
Bond or court orderThe person leaves local pretrial custody if no other hold applies.Jail release event and court docket
Time served or sentence expiredThe custodial portion held by that authority ended.Release event, judgment, and jail-credit entry
Parole or probationThe person is outside a cell but remains under legal supervision.TDOC FOIL and assigned supervision office
TransferMoore County physical custody ended, but another custodian received the person.Receiving jail, TDOC, BOP, or ICE
DismissalA court disposed of a charge; it does not resolve every possible hold.Court order plus jail release event

These distinctions prevent an agency handoff from being flattened into a broad claim that someone is free. Ask for the exact event code, the releasing authority, and any destination shown.

Note: A release from one charge does not resolve another charge, warrant, detainer, or custody order recorded for the same person.

Moore County Release Record Fields

A local release record is tied to one booking. The strongest request identifies that booking and seeks the existing booking sheet, release screen, or jail-management event. Moore County has not published a public field dictionary, so a requested field may be absent or redacted. That limit should be reported rather than filled with assumptions.

FieldWhat it can show
Name and identifiersThe person attached to the event, subject to same-name checks.
Booking numberThe unique local custody episode linked to the release.
Admission date and timeWhen that booking began.
Charge, bond, court, or holdThe legal and custody conditions recorded during the stay.
Release date and timeWhen Moore County processed the end of that physical custody episode.
Release reasonBond, court order, time served, sentence expiration, transfer, or another recorded basis.
Destination or receiving agencyWhether the person went to the community or another custodian, if recorded.
Releasing authorityThe office or order that authorized the event.

A booking photograph can be stored as a linked image rather than on a printable release sheet. It should be named separately if it is needed as part of the same records request.

Request Moore County Release Records

Address a narrow request to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office records custodian at 58 Elm Street South, Lynchburg, Tennessee 37352. The current county contact page lists the main number as (931) 759-6464. No official records-unit hours, online request form, local fee schedule, or fixed delivery method was verified. Confirm those points before sending private identifiers or arriving to inspect a file.

  1. Identify the person by full legal name and date of birth, if known. Add an approximate booking date, case number, or booking number.
  2. Ask for existing documents: the booking sheet, release or discharge event, and jail-management release screen for the identified booking.
  3. Specify the fields sought, including release date and time, reason, releasing authority, and receiving agency or destination if recorded.
  4. State whether inspection or electronic copies are requested. Ask for a cost estimate before copies are made.
  5. Read the returned event beside the court docket. If it says transfer, follow the receiving agency instead of treating it as community release.

Under the Tennessee Public Records Act, Tennessee citizens may inspect state and local public records unless an exception applies. Inspection generally has no charge. A copy request may be required in writing. State guidance permits adopted policies to charge for copies and labor after the first hour, but Moore County’s own adopted policy controls the actual bill. The seven-business-day rule concerns the agency’s response when prompt production is not practical. It may produce the record, deny access with a legal basis, or state the reasonable time needed.

Juvenile, sealed, expunged, victim-identifying, medical, and security-sensitive content may be withheld or redacted. Tennessee Code § 40-32-101 allows expunction in qualifying cases. A missing public result may therefore reflect a lawful access limit, incomplete search keys, or a record held outside the online system.

Note: Ask for an estimate before copies are made because statewide fee guidance is not proof of Moore County’s actual adopted charges.

Moore County Release Statistics Limits

The TDOC Statistical Abstract for fiscal year 2025 reported a Moore County Jail population total of 24 in its facility table. The table divided that measure into 9 backup, 10 local, and 5 not-yet-known categories. Those figures describe a population measure. They do not state annual releases, capacity, admission volume, or average length of stay.

A separate January 2025 snapshot listed 29 beds and 16 occupants on that date. Snapshot counts cannot be converted into a release rate for Moore County released inmates. They also say nothing about a named person’s booking or release.

Moore County Release Court Proof

The jail event and court file answer different questions. The sheriff’s event can establish the physical processing time, release reason, and possible destination. The trial clerk’s docket can establish a bond order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, probation order, revocation, or later change. Neither should be made to serve the other record’s role.

Use the Tennessee court clerk finder to identify the correct Moore County clerk. Request the docket sheet and the specific order that explains the custody change. A case number is the best key. A name, date of birth, and approximate filing date can help when the number is unknown. A bond order does not prove that staff completed release, while a jail timestamp alone may not show the case’s final outcome.

Which record proves the walk-out? The Moore County Jail release event is the best local source for the physical event. The court order supplies its legal basis.

Find Moore County Released Inmates

Begin with the agency that controlled the relevant custody. A Moore County arrest or short county sentence starts with the jail release event and local court case. A felony offender delivered to TDOC, or supervised by TDOC after release, belongs in FOIL. Tennessee VINE can provide custody-change notices where the supplying agency participates. Federal sentenced custody belongs in the BOP locator. A possible immigration transfer belongs in ICE ODLS.

  1. Call the Moore County Jail with the full name, date of birth, and approximate booking date. Ask whether the booking closed by release or transfer.
  2. Request the booking-linked release record when phone confirmation is too limited. Preserve the exact reason, time, and destination.
  3. Check the court docket for the order, judgment, bond, dismissal, or sentence entry behind the physical event.
  4. Search TDOC FOIL if the case involved a state felony sentence or state community supervision.
  5. Use BOP or ICE only when the record points to federal criminal or immigration custody. A federal path does not replace the county record.
Roster limit: “Not here” or no current result does not prove community release. Ask which event closed the booking and whether another agency received the person.

Preserve the exact source label, event date, and time checked. A time-bounded inquiry still requires a named release event because Moore County publishes no verified person-level feed.

Moore County Release Custody Handoffs

A small local jail can hand custody to several larger systems. “Not at Moore County Jail” can mean TDOC, another county, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE. The receiving agency controls the next search. The release record’s reason and destination fields are the bridge.

Current Moore County detention
Jail confirmation establishes that the person is held locally at the time checked.
Local release event
A booking-linked release record establishes that the Moore County custody episode ended as recorded.
State felony custody or supervision
TDOC FOIL supplies the displayed state status, location, and sentence fields.
Federal sentenced custody
The BOP locator supplies federal status and a past or projected release date.
Immigration detention
ICE ODLS supplies its displayed custody result within that system's limits.

The BOP Inmate Locator may show “Released” with a date for a former federal prisoner.

That federal result ends only the BOP portion of the inquiry. It does not clear supervised release, a state hold, or immigration custody. ICE ODLS is separate, and no dedicated ICE facility or detention contract was verified in Moore County.

Note: Keep the county release and later agency intake as separate events, even when both occur on the same calendar day.

Travel After a Moore County Release

South Central Area Transit Service offers curb-to-curb regional transportation in the South Central region, which includes Moore County. Its published service runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with scheduling through (931) 359-1463. SCATS does not publish a fixed Moore County Jail stop, a guaranteed immediate pickup, a fare for this trip, or a required lead time.

A released person or family should contact SCATS in advance and compare the service window with the jail’s actual processing time. Moore County publishes no release-hour schedule, public release door, family waiting point, or taxi and rideshare rule. Jail staff should confirm where a pickup may safely occur.

Note: A scheduled transit ride does not establish the release time, and jail processing may not align with the published service window.

Moore County Jail Release Scale

The official January 2025 jail snapshot described Moore County as a 29-bed facility with 16 occupants and 13 vacancies, or 55.2 percent occupancy, on that snapshot date. A later May 2025 inspection report used an “R” code after an April inspection and listed a June reinspection date. In that table, “R” meant reinspection. It did not mean the jail had closed.

Neither source counts Moore County released inmates. The first describes one day’s scale. The second reports an inspection status. They cannot confirm a booking, a release, or a transfer for a named person, and neither substitutes for a release record. This distinction matters because official aggregate data can look precise while answering a different question.

Moore County Release Reentry Support

TDOC Community Resource Centers serve people under state supervision and people released after sentence expiration. No Moore-only reentry office, county halfway house, or local jail discharge program was verified. For a state relationship, TDOC Community Supervision District 50 in Tullahoma is the geographic starting point for Moore, Coffee, Franklin, and Lincoln Counties.

The office assignment is not proof that a named person reports there. FOIL’s Assigned Location field should be checked first. The TDOC Community Resource Center information describes the state support role, while current reporting duties come from the supervising officer and official record. Details on supervision routes appear on the Parole / Probation page.

Note: District 50 is a geographic starting point, while FOIL and TDOC establish the assigned office for a specific supervision record.

IDs After Moore County Release

TDOC Policy 511.05 governs preparation for a Tennessee driver license or state-identification-only license before a release from state custody. That is a state-prison policy. It must not be assumed to govern Moore County Jail. No local publication states the jail’s property-return steps, identity-document process, release exit, or gate-money practice.

Ask Jail Administrator David “Andy” Raby which personal property and documents are released with the identified booking, what receipt is used, and how unclaimed property is handled. A property question should remain separate from the legal release question. The property record cannot prove why custody ended, while the release event does not by itself inventory each item returned.

Moore County Release Facility Paths

Moore County has one verified local detention facility, but several outside systems can receive or supervise people whose cases began there. The correct route follows the custodian, not county geography.

  • Moore County Jail: confirm bond, time served, court release, sentence end, or a transfer through its booking-linked release event.
  • Tennessee Department of Correction statewide prison system: use FOIL for a state felony custody or supervision record.
  • Tennessee Department of Correction Community Supervision: check FOIL’s displayed status and Assigned Location before contacting a field office.
  • Federal Bureau of Prisons system: use the BOP locator for federal sentenced custody and its release-date field.
  • Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention system: use ICE ODLS when a county event points to an immigration handoff.

A release record should preserve each custody episode separately. That keeps a local jail exit followed by a state or federal intake from becoming a misleading single event.

Note: Geography does not control the final lookup after transfer; the agency named as receiver controls the next custody check.
